Just got home from tonight's meeting (no this was an actual meeting, not just out with girls), and I'm about to have dinner. Send me a meme while I catch up on today's reading and highlighting that I missed all day. Thanks.
We had massive thunderstorms last night, and our power went out. Do we have flashlights? No, of course not, but the geeky family we are has this instead:
a Green Lantern power battery. We also used a light saber from Star Wars, and some glow in the dark princess toy from McDonald's. I wish I were making this stuff up. :-D
I've crossed a line today. Not the line where I refuse to use a credit card in McDonald's because the day I cross that line is the day I quit Mickey D's cold turkey. No, this was the line where I walk into Starbuck's at 9:30 at night and the girl behind the counter asks where I've been because I haven't been in. Now, I go quite a bit, but it's maybe twice a week depending on when hubby gets paid, but I don't go to the same one - at least, I wouldn't consider myself a regular at this one (even though it was my first Starbuck's, so it holds a special place in my heart or at least on my taste buds), but apparently I am. A regular, that is. I don't know if I should be flattered or join a 12-step program. It might be time to get a re-loadable gift card.

Ironically, a commercial just came on singing "I get by with a little help from my friends."
This is a copy of my friend
thanfiction's post. He is currently doing commisioned artwork, and if you read what he does, you will see at the end a link to see his deviant art page, and see the work for yourself.
I (thanfiction) just wanted to make it publicly known that I am officially not only willing, but eager to take art commissions.
What I Do: Hand-drawn art. Styles vary from cartoonish (non-anime, more traditional comic-book) line-drawing to photo-realistic.
Why You'd Want It: Portraits, Shipper pics, Site Art, Cover Art, Fanfic Illustrations, Gifts, Icon Bases, etc.
What Your Options Are: B&W, partial color, or full color. Pencil, charcoal, acrylic paint, pastel, oil paint, colored pencil, pen-and-ink, or marker.
What I Can Draw: Pretty much anything, though my specialty is people.
What I Won't Draw: Pedophilia (yes, this means cross-gen with someone underage, sorry...but I do put underage as 17 by wizarding standards, and I am willing to draw up to PG-13/soft R with both participants between the ages of 13-17) Bestiality, Necrophilia, and I reserve the right to draw the line on some of the more bizarre kinks out there or on anything that frankly squicks me too much to be willing to stare at every detail of it to draw it. On the other hand, I'm pretty open-minded.
What It Would Cost You: Prices start at $15 for a really quick little icon-sketch, like my Seamus above, and go up from there depending on complexity. [here is the example of the icon:
]
How It Would Be Handled: You give me the commission, we work out the details, preferably by phone, then I give you a preview scan of the sketch in low resolution. You like it, you send the money, I send you a high-resolution (300 or more DPI) version that is photo-print quality, and, if you want, the original by US mail.
How Long It Takes: I can do almost anything in a 48-hour turnaround. The only exception so far has been luvscharlie's little girl, which is taking me a bit longer because I just got the source pictures printed out last night, and then got monged.
Where You Can See Some Examples: My Deviantart page.
Can You...? Email me at thanfiction@yahoo.com The answer is probably.

I will be away with my family, so if I'm needed (because I am the end all and be all of your lives), just drop me an e-mail or PM, but it may take me a day to get back to it. I will try to comment/answer comments, but again it may take some time. I'm collecting all of the
weasley_feststories to read later, and I am bringing my laptop with me. I honestly don't know how I survived this long without one. It was a lifesaver on our last vacation/holiday, and I plan on using it from now on when we go away. Have a great 4th (Americans) and a great week.
My epilogue may be late because I haven't sent it to the beta yet, but it won't be more than a few days after my normal end of the week post. My
weasley_esquesubmission is expected to be on time if I can get someone to look it over plus don't forget about
spewchallenges.
Happy Birthday Mike. ;-)

Well, I've just received my membership card for the International Women's Writing Guild. I don't know why, but I'm very excited. Maybe there will be something for me to mention at next year's conference, like some clips or ...who knows what. Maybe some of you will be there with me. :-)

For those who don't know yet because it's 5:45 am: George Carlin, the greatest comedian in my lifetime, has died.
I do love this one, but I couldn't find a place for my stuff,. Here's the link:

My kids get a pat on the back. I have a griffin ring that I misplaced more than a year ago. They found it today. Yippee! They were playing in a place in the house where they didn't belong, but hey! they get a free pass for finding my ring. Anyway, I should have been paying better attention, but I was reading
thanfiction- you know who you are, you know what you wrote. Yea kids!
I've just arrived at my writers' conference - very excited, but I turned on the TV and have discovered that Tim Russert has died. He was the moderator of Meet the Press, and he was only 58. For me this is a huge loss. As many of you know, I am a huge news junkie. I haven't watched the local news in about a month because I spend my time on MSNBC, watching everyone, but always looking forward to Tim Russert. Condolences to his family.
ETA: As I sit here, I just remembered that in this same city where I am at this conference, I actually saw Tim Russert speak. He was the keynote speaker when my close friend graduated from law school. What a strange thing to remember. What a lovely man. It really is so sad.

My 3 year old son was ranting about his eleven year old brother (who wasn't even at home), so I stepped in.
Me: What's wrong?
3 year old: Zachary!
Me: What did Zachary do?
3 year old: Zachary wrote all over my paper. From Friendly's.
Me: What did he write on your paper?
3 year old: Words!
The contempt in his voice and the look on his face is the real reason bathrooms were moved inside, so parents had a place to hide while hysterically laughing at their children without damaging their self-esteem and sending them into therapy sessions at age five.
